I Tore Down my Working Trading System
Complexity is the real villain

In trading, complexity feels like sophistication. More indicators, more rules, more screens.
It looks professional.
But every extra moving part is one more decision you have to second-guess, and one more reason you end up staring at charts at midnight.
The trading lessons I’ve learned over the years come down to three habits:
- Follow the trend instead of predicting it.
- Keep losses small and let winners run.
- Use a system simple enough to trust when it’s uncomfortable.
That third one is the one that is easy to complicate, but if you can’t explain your system, you won’t stick with it when the market tests you.
Starting over with one market and one signal
So I started fresh.
One market: Bitcoin.
Our proven signal: a moving-average trend crossover on the daily chart. Every number visible, every step something you can trace with your finger.
I named it Mainspring, after the coiled spring inside a mechanical watch.
You wind it once and it releases that energy steadily, keeping the whole watch running without you touching it.
That’s the idea.
You put in the money you’ve kept, and it does the watching for you.
Next I’ll show you exactly how the signal works, step by step, so you can understand it whether or not you ever use The Mainspring.
